If it shows Administratively DOWN, the port is shut down and must be enabled .For detailed optical parameters, run display transceiver interface [interface-type interface-number] verbose to check wavelength, received, and transmitted optical power .3. Configuring Medium TypeHuawei switches allow pre-configuration of the transmission medium type even before the module is installed. This ensures faster service deployment. If the installed medium differs from the pre-configured type, the installed medium takes priority. Forcing the medium type is possible but may damage the module if mismatched .4. Configuring PON Interfaces (EPON/GPON)For switches or routers acting as ONUs in a PON network:Configure the PON interface to auto-negotiate the working mode (EPON or GPON) based on the received optical signal .If switching modes after a successful negotiation, reset the PON board to trigger re-negotiation.
